brbackup using RMAN (missing BR0204I or BKI0023I estimated end time)

Hi Forum,

my company was using brbackup on TSM using util_file all the past years - and during brbackup runs we always got an estimation about the expected end time ... now we are going to test brbackup with RMAN (still on TSM)

During first test I miss the information from brbackup about the"percentage done" and "estimated end time" (brbackup code BR0204I) which I usually got when using util-File.

I just get messages like this ...

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2010-09-02 15.58.38

BR0202I Saving /oracle/SBS/sapdata2/sr3d_109/sr3d.data109

That's the kind of message I am missing ...

BKI0023I: Time: 08/11/10 19:41:07 Done: 69.852 GB (3.8 %) of 1830.267 GB. Estimated end time: 08/11/10

22:16:06.

In Case I just perform an backup validate (brbackup -w only_rmv) I get the estimations as expected (?)

BR0569I Verification of /oracle/SBS/sapdata3/sr3d_94/sr3d.data94 using RMAN successful

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2010-09-02 09.10.53

BR0063I 1 of 205 files processed - 10236.008 of 1858793.789 MB done

BR0204I Percentage done: 0.55%, estimated end time: 11:41

BR0001I __________________________________________________

Does anybody have a hint how to get this "nice" estimation information when performing a real brbackup?

Kind regards

Alex

the problem is TSM, not BRBACKUP

you can ask IBM about this.

I don't understand how this could be TSM. We switched from TSM to Data Protector and are having the same issue. The logs look like this:

BR0284I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-01-25 23.10.13, elapsed time: 0:34

#FILE..... /oracle/SV5/sapdata12/glpcai_19/glpcai.data19

#SAVED.... 20110125.0083.02

BR0284I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-01-25 23.10.16, elapsed time: 0:03

#FILE..... /oracle/SV5/sapdata12/glpcai_46/glpcai.data46

#SAVED.... 20110125.0083.07

BR0284I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-01-25 23.10.54, elapsed time: 0:38

#FILE..... /oracle/SV5/sapdata15/glpcai_17/glpcai.data17

#SAVED.... 20110125.0083.06

BR0284I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2011-01-25 23.11.17, elapsed time: 0:23

#FILE..... /oracle/SV5/sapdata34/infod_9/infod.data9

#SAVED.... 20110125.0083.11

Don't the BR0203I and BR0204I come from BRBACKUP? Our tools just call the BRBACKUP and backint utilities, they're not really doing the backup. Please help, I feel like there is just some option we're missing not getting set. The UTIL_FILE is just a backup type that is called during backup, I don't get how that could play a part here. In Data Protector, I can execute a UTIL_FILE backup and get the same log results.
