Hi,
We are using Special Request for creating a shopping cart. In which the user can evter the product description in any language.
So, the vendor can be from germany or america... the china user can enter the product desc in chinese language.
So, we are facing this issue like, the chinese characters entered in the product desc are coming fine in the portal and SRM but when we see the PDF output print preview they are coming as #### or some weird characters.
The normal smartform print preview works fine, chinese chars are coming in that.. only the PDF is creating problem.
Any clues?
The device type PDFUC doesnt works, the PDF gives some error, that you need to install some upgrades but we already have Adobe reader 9.0
Help needed guys as this month end is our Go live.
Thanks,
Vaibhav Goel.

Hi Vaibahav
if you logged in english and type the description it will show correctly.
for example special character will be interrupted as # only.
---
one example
copy the apostrope from word and past as sc description . it shows as # instead of Apostrope.
if you type ' and you will get the same in pdf as apostrope.

Hi ,
@masa: We are using Unicode SRM 5.0 only. It is taking the device type PDF1 and printer as 'PRINTER'.
@muthu.. that doesnt solved the problem. We tried logging in with ZH language also.
We wont believe we are chasing SAP for more than a month now but no useful help from their side.
ONe more help... I m creating a custom module pool program for displaying the print preview in normal mode and not in PDF...... but it is still converting it to PDF automatically in the Portal dont know how... even when I have unchecked the get_otf in the smartform parameters ......

Hi,
I think the issue is around device type or SmartForms conversion in NetWeaver side.
I'm not sure if Adobe Form available in SRM 5.0. If it is available please test with Adobe Form insted of SmartForms.

Sure Masa....
Actually problem was with the device type only as I found out.
It was taking the device tyoe as PDF1 which is not unicode enabled so I replaced it to PDFUC (Unicode enabled) in the table: TSFDEVTY.
One more thing which is required for this is Chinese support language packs for Adobe.. which needs to be installed on your system separately.
That's it.
Hello Everyone,
I have a similar issue of Chinese characters in the approval message that appears for approvers in Approval Screen.
We are in SRM 5.0 and integrated to Netweaver portal.
When i checked the approval message in approval screen from Netweaver portal, some chinese characters are appearing.
but when i checked the approval screen from EBP, box shapes (special characters) are appearing.
Device type of language ZH is defined as CNSAPWIN in our system.
Please advice if i should change it to PDFUC. Also, this issue is not happening for all the shopping carts but only for few.
Thanks in adance.
Hello Vaibhav ,
I am also facing the same issue with the Chinese Characters in the same scenario where my login language is EN and Vendor Language is Chinese so the Chinese characters are coming as "####" in Print Preview Only . If I save it on my desktop and then open it , it works fine.
I had already done the device type setting , so by installing the language pack of Chinese on the system do you mean to say it On Desktop or somewhere else. Please advise .
Thanks in advance for your help .

Hi,
Is the SRM Unicode system or Non-Unicode system?
What is the default printer and device type for the user?

Masa
