Hi Friends,

We are using KPRo and ticked KPRo in DC10 for the doc. types. We also have content server .

We are having certain file size as 175MB for PDF and 75 MB for DWG (Autocad Dwg). If we upload this huge files, is there any impact of viewing or performance, other problems.

In legacy system they have this type of huge files very less and other average size is around 50MB for PDF and 50MB for DWG (Autocad Dwg). There is no problem in storing as we considered it.

Is there any impact on fiels " File Size" in DC10. However I saw that as " Allowed size of file for saving to SAP database. The value is only checked when the original files are not stored via Knowledge Provider."

Regards,

Sai Krishna

Hi Sai,

when you are using separate content server then forget about the allowed size of SAP database.

Kindly check following points and solutions for your query:

1. Have you cinsidered these sizes while installing content server ? is the size is ok which can store document upto min.3-4 years?

2. Is the users accessing these document are at one location? becasue if users are at different locations then they will get trouble while accessing due to bandwidth. Also it will take a long time to open the documents with huge size?

3. You need cache servers at different location to avoid time delay in opening documents.

The size is issue due to these factors only. You can save it in dms no issue. Impact will be on system perfomance and can cause dms failure.

Hope this will clarify you.

Ravindra

Hi Sai,

As you have opted for kPro(content server) as your storage option and necessary harddisk,RAM sizing has been ensured, this field bears no impact. As you are aware, this setting is to limit the maximum size in bytes of an original application file for archiving to the SAP database.

The possible challenge for the large sized files would be view, edit and access functions if the area of operation/access has insufficient network bandwidth. Do refer to the earlier posts on content-cache server setup, sizing for an improved understanding.
