Greetings,

ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid" is a common error encountered in a development environment. This can happen for many reasons. Some of them are

1. You created a synonym on non-existing object by mistake. For example, you created a synonym on ABC.XYZ where either the ABS schema in not present or the XYZ table is missing.

2. You dropped an object but you did not drop the synonyms referencing the object or

3. You dropped a user, but you did not drop synonyms referencing the objects owned by that user.

Pls read the below SDN post and SAPnote Note 650796 - Composite Note: ORA-00980 and I am sure your issue will be resolved.

All the best !

Thanks Manoj/Prateek,

I have 2 similar environements one is running on Linux 32 bit with oracle 10.2.0.1 and Brtools 7 which works fine.Failure is happening on the second environment with HP-UX ia64 with same version of oracle /Brtools. So i am bit confused why it faills only on HP.

I have read that i need to Upgrade Oracle to 10.2.0.4 to fix this which am not sure.

Regarding the tech note mentioned by Manoj, i dont have access to it. please post it in this forum.

Cheers

well, Oracle 10.2.0.1 is not supported an was never supported by SAP.

so, upgrade first before trying to get more help.

Is this a non-ABAP system?

Can you check Note 651812 - FAQ: BR*TOOLS and SAPDBA (16) as mentioned in note 650796
