SAP on VMWARE, oracle on physical cluster

Former Member

hello experts,

I need to understand If I can install an ECC 6.0. EHP4 SR1 ready on a Vmware in distributed environment where oracle resides on physical machines and in cluster.

The sap application server will be standalone, not clustered .

Someone of you used this solution?

Is it certified?

regards

Hi Bruno, this is a common way,

we also have the DB Server on some Appservers on Bare Metal but e.g. the CI is on VMWare.

Kind Regards

Hello,

thanks for the answers. Is It possibile to use even LINUX as operating system for the CI on VMWARE.

I do not understand if there's a restriction for using Oracle in physical cluster on LINUX connected with a CI SAP on VMWARE .

Any other suggestion?

In my former company we had installed Oracle on a physical cluster. All application servers

was running virualized on VMware.

Oracle on physical maschines and applications servers virtualized is full supported by SAP

Best regards

We run one of our application servers in VMWare an several others on bare metal (though not against Oracle in this setup).

Note 1409608 - Virtualization on Windows

The SAP NetWeaver application server is very suitable for virtualization since the architecture was optimized for a high scalability.
