Used to have ultraedit but recently replaced with Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/)

I find it much faster to load files, and the syntax highlighting works well.

I use Notepad ++ for basic editing. HTML/CSS/XML/PHP. I also use it for troubleshooting a lot of other languages. IntelliJ is something I use for Java programming though. Been looking at some of their other editors, they have one for HTML, PHP, Python, RoR, and objective C. A few of these I would like to try out eventually, like the PHP, Python, and RoR one. But right now I'm using the Java one because its free.

I recomend you Codelobster PHP Edition.

It's most powerful among free code editors.

Some advantages of this editor are: intellectual autocomplete, FTP,

folding code, navigation with Ctrl for all links and descriptions and

incremental searching

Important feature of this editor is presence of special plugins for

Drupal CMS, Joomla CMS, Smarty template engine, JQuery library, CodeIgniter framework,

CakePHP framework, Facebook social network and WordPress blogging platform.

Also i want to pay your attention to the option Portable

Notepad++

with the ABAP syntax highlightning plugin (very useful, if you are on older systems without syntax highlightning)

Hi Guys,

Over the last year Iu2019ve developed a full E-Commerce site in PHP hooking up directly into SAP using SOAP Calls. Very pleased with how itu2019s turned out.

My editor of choice for this project has been Komodo Edit from Active State which is completely free and open source. [http://www.activestate.com/komodo-edit|http://www.activestate.com/komodo-edit]

Well that and VI of course!

Cheers

Hi,

I have Zend Studio and Eclipse, but I always find I end up using vim. I know vi is old school, but once you know the key bindings it makes editing a breeze. The syntax colouring in vim is a nice touch too. It's obviously not for everyone as any emacs user will attest.

Cheers

My first forum post!

I use Dreamweaver currently. However, I have been checking out Aptana lately as a possible candidate to supplement my workflow with dynamic languages (ie. PHP, JavaScript, maybe Ruby). Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

I use Dreamweaver, primarily because it integrates well with the other Adobe products, and it's pretty much what I've learned on.

Welcome Circuitbomb. Congrats on the first post.

i generally use the PDT that plugs into eclipse. For a while there I had a nice set up with virtual linux machines connected by samba to my windows environment and the code was all svn'd nicely to our code repository.

That said I haven't done much php in anger for a year or two now so i may be a bit off the pace.

Have fun using PHP and SAP together.

cheers,

Nigel

I have just set up eclipse Helios for another java project and installed the PDT tools because it is so simple now and they are very good.

If you are using eclipse for anything else then you should look at PDT for PHP development.

Zend, Adobe Dreamweaver and Edit Plus are widely used Tools,

I prefer any of these three tool,

Dreamweaver is more user friendly tool...

HI,

I use UltraEdit32; I'm programming in PHP for a long time, I tried many editors but I think that UE32 is the best one.

You can import your custom tag library in order to personalize and improve your coding experience.

One features I must have: column editing mode.

Regards,

Ivan
