IS Oil vs. SAP TSW

Former Member

Hello, today I talked to a customer about their general requirements. They requested to potentially replace their legacy system with SAP. They want to perform the following functions:

Fleet scheduling to treat wells with chemical servicing. Manage the scheduling, report worker jobs and analysis.

No optimizing, resource filling or anything like that. (Which is TPVS or TM)

Just want vehicle scheduling, bulk inventory control, with scalability to mobile device usage, generally manage the inventory of vehicles to be moved around from location to location as they service the wells.

Is our IS Oil the solution to perform these tasks, or can we meet these requirements with TSW?

Thanks,

John Janeczek

Hi John,

Got a bit confused with the questions but will try to answer a few...

1) Manage the scheduling: Yes can be done with IS Oil (TSW if its massive means)

2) Vehicles Scheduling: I guess you mean Scheduling again??

3) Bulk Inventory control: Are you talkingabout stock in transit?if yes there is not a standar report but can be easily developed.

4) Manage inventory of vehicles: Do you mean how manay vehicles are available to use??If so the closes SAP helps is to throw a Hard error saying the vehicle is already assigned to a shipment on that shift that day and so on...

But a report can be developed...

Post furthr with lil more spec if it doesn't help...

Regards

Hi ,

IS-OIL-DS-TD is for Transportation & Distribution for Oil shipments and wont meet all you requirements speically there is no optimization logic.

TSW (Trader's and Sceduler's workbench) is one more component (as leas till EHP4) from IS-OIL-DS .

Its most suitable for Bulk Movements requiring greater flexibility for planning and Scheduling activities (Nominations) and automcatic posting of movements (Tickets ) for Marine /Pipline scenarios , but not recommended for small quantities (Secondary distribution: From Depo/terminals etc to Retail station or customer)

I suggest you > TSW + EAM (Enterprise Asset Managent ) ,The communication/tracking with Vehicles (Events/Mesaages) depend on your middel ware for ALE-IDOCs to updates you Schedules in TSW with events.

For small movements (Truck etc) IS-OIL-TD ,EAM can be appraoch to go ahead.

TPVS for Oil companies have not been the best option to go ahead with

Hope it helps .
