serialization and equipment master

Hello all,

I am working on serialization and would like to know if the serial #s are generated automatically by the system, is it possible by the system to create the equipment master by itself with all the details or is the equipment master something like master data that has to be created and assigned manually to the serial #s in each client.

How to define the status of serial #s and what does it mean. how does the status of the serial # gets updated.

Hi,

To maintain Serial numbers to material you need to creat serial number profile and assign it in material master

This will help to track the materials in different application or business transaction

equipment also like material master- Transaction IE01-This will be used to to maintain complex details for materials like pump etc..

Advantages of equipment.

Individual data is to be managed for the object (for example, year of construction, warranty period, usage sites)

Maintenance tasks are to be performed for the object, either regular, planned or resulting from damage

A record of the maintenance tasks performed for the object must be kept (for example, for insurance or compulsory annual inspection purposes)

Technical data on the object is to be collected and evaluated over a long period of time

The costs of maintenance tasks are to be monitored for the object

Records of usage times at functional locations are required for the object
