Generating XML for Upgrade

Hi friends,

We are currently in an Upgrede process, The source system is SAP NW BW 3.5 to SAP NW BI 7.0 EHP1.

As you know the upgrade process needs an XML file to be generated from Solution Manager. The Solution Manager we are working is release 7 ehp1 with the SP 23, it is configured, the source system is defined as a satellite system.

The problem is that when we want to generate the xml file, the option for Upgrade and Maintenance doesn´t appear, there is only one option: "Maintenance", but within this option Solman is not including the necessary components and patches for the Upgrade, just the SPS level to paly to current version.

Please ...Do know what could be happening?

Hello Enrique,

please see http://service.sap.com/solman-mopz . There you will see that the upgrade you planned is currently not supported by Maintenance Optimizer. Quoting from there:

- Upgrade with an Installation of an Enhancement Package is supported for SAP ERP, SAP SCM, SAP SRM and SAP CRM

On the other hand, upgrade to Netweaver EHP2 is supported, but this is omitted from the page.

goto SMSY

select your System ID

on the right side of the SAP screen goto tab "Header Data"

Click on Installed Products Versions

in there ensure that you have SAP ERP ticked or SAP SCM ticked or any other one i.e. SAP BW.

As you are upgrading a system you need to select the Software you are upgrading and if you do that you should get the upgrade option in MOPZ as well as Maintenance.

if you don't see SAP BW there then tick the top box to free up the product/select product version and from the pull down select SAP BW and select the version. if your version is not there then you will need update the product list in solution Manager - for this do a search on marketplace, this will be done by downloading a XML file and uploading it using a standard function delivered within SAP SolMan

Hi,

Check settings of your system in SMSY. You should register your system in netweaver release and also assigned it to logical system then you will get Enhancement Package installation option in MOPZ.

I have already, define in SMSY the BI system as SAP Netweaver 04 = Rel 6.40, but also we defined the logical component.

But the option Upgrade and ehancement doesn´t appear in MOPZ.

We tried defining the BI system as an ERP 5.0 Kernel 6.40 in smsy, and then the option appears.

We belive it shouldn´t happen, I have looked for notes, but it appear as if thi problem were not reported.

Do you have an other idea about what could be happening?

Hi,

You should register your system as Netweaver 7.0 system instead of 640 release. Then check.
