Standalone EWM without an ERP or SAP system?

Hi guys,

I have a client that only needs a Warehouse Management system.

They were about to close the deal with Red Prairie WMS solution, but after I interacted they like to know more about "Standalone SCM EWM" to leave the doors open for future SAP implementation and integration.

My question is:

Can we implement a completely standalone SCM EWM solution for a warehouse only as a start-up, no other SAP components are in place?

And accordingly No need for PO GR, No need Sales Order GI, no need for STO Outbound, no batch management etc etc.

It is possible to have a decentralised SAP WM system. We had this for our warehouses in one of my earlier firms. There is no need for other modules of SAP in it. The flow happens through IDocs created in standard SAP systems from which values are passed to standalone SAP WM system to perform day to day warehouse tasks.
