Hostname without Network Domain!

Hi,

We installed PI 7.1 EhP1 and have also finished with Post-Installation activities including initial config wizard. Now, when I run the transaction, SXMB_IFR, I get the url as [http://<hostname>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp] instead of [http://<hostname>.<network domain>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp]. If I check SMICM parameters then I do have icm/host_name_full parameter value set as FQDN of the server.

Do I have to do any settings or maintain any table entries to get FQDN url for transaction SXMB_IFR?

I have the same problem with below applications within SXMB_IFR Process Integration Tools dashboard:

- Enterprise Services Builder

- System Landscape Directory

- Integration Builder, and

- Runtime Workbench

In the same dashboard, for the below applications I can see FQDN url:

- Services Registry

- NetWeaver Administrator

How come that some of the apps have FQDN URL, while some don't? I have already updated entries in transaction SLDAPICUST, but still no use. I have no problems when I access the apps within intranet, but when I access them via VPN then I have to manually manipulate the URL as my private DNS isn't able to resolve the right IP. I know I could update the HOSTS file and maintain hardcoded mapping, but I was wondering if there is any setting or configuration that could make this change permanent on server. Appreciate your response.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

Open the Exchange Profile and change all parameters that ends

in *.name to FQDN, and don't forget to restart the system to activate

the changes.

For more information about the FQHN, please check the notes below:

#773830 - FQHN determination in ICM

#654982 - URL requirements due to Internet standards

Also please ensure to apply the FQHN as per instructions on the note

below:

#804124 - HTTP communication with XI Adapter Engine fails

And check for the parameter

'com.sap.aii.connect.integrationserver.sld.name' from note:

#1278563 - Specification of message server host in Exchange Profile

Many thanks for your quick response. I am new to PI and don't have much experience with J2EE Stack Administration. Could you please guide me how do I navigate to ExchangeProfile?

Go to http://server:port/dir (in pi 7.1, otherwise replace dir with rep). Click on Administration on top right. Select exchange profile in the left pane in the next screen. Change the parameters as suggested in the above reply.

What authorization role will I need to access the Administration page? I keep getting error message "You do not have proper permissions to view the Administration Pages". I tried logging in as J2EE_ADMIN.

Hi Gadde,

Try adding the role SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR and see. You can see few roles here:

how about parameters ending *.mshost and *.ashost? Do I need to update value to FQDN as well or they aren't necessary?

Hi!

Yes, do the update according to the notes.

Also, in regard of the permissions, please check note:

#999962 - PI 7.10: Change passwords of PI service users

you'll also maintain the correct passwords for the service users.

And talking about that, please refer to link below with the roles needed:

Where can I find the J2EE Service "XPI Service: CPA Cache" within NWA? I need to update some parameter values as per SAP Note 804124.

SAP Note 804124 excerpt:

For XI Integration Builder, Integration Engine and Runtime Workbench, you accomplish this by entering fully qualified host names in the XI Exchange Profile, then initiating a new self-registration (restarting the J2EE engine).

(1) For the Adapter Engine, the approach is different: Change the properties

"SLD.selfregistration.httpPort"

"SLD.selfregistration.httpsPort"

"SLD.selfregistration.hostName"

of the J2EE service "SAP XI AF CPA Cache" (6.40, 7.0) or "XPI Service: CPA Cache" (7.1 and higher). Enter the fully qualified host name under which the Adapter Engine can be reached from all relevant network domains. Do this in the Visual Administrator of the J2EE Engine (6.40, 7.0) or NetWeaver Administrator (7.1 and higher).
