Archiving old unsettled Sales orders

Hi Experts

I need to get rid of thousands of old unwanted sales orders giving settlement (VA88) errors. I know that I can change the settlement profile to 'not to be settled' and then programatically set the sales order statuses to CLSD and then archive. Once they are archived, set the profile back to 'can be settled' or 'must be settled'.

Has anyone done something like this, can it work or can someone offer a better solution please?

thats the only possibility. This was discussed a few days back in the forum... Thats what needs to be done precisely

Thank you very much. I saw a previous question on Process orders, but it didn't quite suit the Sales orders.
