Hi ,
We have installed a new dialog instance in S.O Linux , we have our
central instance in S.O Unix and the Data Base is oracle with S.O Unix .The central instance ,the dialog instance and the Data Base are in
differents servers.
When we try to start the new dialog instance the startsap tell us
******************************************************************
Database is not available via R3trans
Database D01 must be started on remote server
Log on to remote server and start database
******************************************************************
We execute a R3trans -d in the new dialog instace (Linux) and the
return code is 000 but the trace tell us that there is an error when we
read table SVERS the error is:
**********************************************************************
OCIStmtExecute() completed, rc=100=OCI_NO_DATA, no further data
1869 0.123994
4 ETW000 [dev trc ,00000] -> rc=1403=OCI_ERR_NOT_FOUND
**********************************************************************
Whe we do the same in the central instance (Unix) the R3trans tell us
that there is not problems and the system start without problems .
Thaks a lot for your help.

Hi martin ,
In your system you have the same errors in the Rtrans -d ?

And in the tables DDNTT , DDNTF , TADIR and PATCHHIST with the error rc=1403=OCI_ERR_NOT_FOUND .
Thanks a lot on advanced.

Hi Martin ,
1. Did you install the oracle client software on the server of the dialog instance?
2. Did you mount the profile directory plus it's subdirectories on the dialog instance? -> /sapmnt/adm environment settings in the dialog instance are the same that in the central instance
4º The data base support the central instance connections and we start only the R3trans -d and this fail when is going to read table SVERS .
5º We deactivate the DNS and put the maquines in the /etc/hosts .
Thanks a lot on advanced.

Hi.
I think i went wrong - the R3trans was successful. It was only the "problem" with the SVERS select in the trans.log file.
I checked this on my systems - we have this message too. So i do not think that this will be the problem.
What about the files in the profile/oracle directory? Are they there on the dialog instance?
Can you check the environment of the <sidadm> user on the dialog instance. Maybe something on a firewall?
regards, Martin

Hi.
1. Did you install the oracle client software on the server of the dialog instance?
2. Did you mount the profile directory plus it's subdirectories on the dialog instance? -> /sapmnt/<SID>/profile/oracle
3. Are the <sid>adm environment settings correct on the dialog instance server?
4. Unlikely: does the database have enough possible connections for the di's work processes?
5. What about a nslookup of the db server / ci server on the di server
please try and post 🐵
