Taking backup

Could anybody explain step by step taking backup,?

1. whats the purpose of backup?

2.how it works internal adjustments?

Please refer this [Planning area Data extraction|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/e0/9088392b385f6be10000000a11402f/frameset.htm] link to do a data back up for your system by extracting the data into Info Cubes.

Data back up is done to retrieve the data in case of any system crash or to store the old planning data to enhance system performance.

Hi Deepali,

The link provided by Sai is a very useful link which will tell u how to extract data from planning area.

Why we need back up?

There r certain occasions where-in for some enhancement we need to deactivate the planning area.

At such times through backp cubes are used to restore the data.

If accidently data has been deleted from the planning area ( user deleted cvcs) then data need to be restored.

Recommended to have backup of planning area every month.

In the backup include only key figures which are manually entered.Calculated Key figures gets upated thru macros.

Key figures which get populated through info cubes(sales data) should not be included. They can be loaded in planning area

directly thru info cubes.

By this we can reduce the time of back up activity.
