Dear gurus!

Is it possible to compress ORACLE database backup using brtools?

I used all the option for the compression flag but it does not seem to work?

Tolu

Hello,

Check the below link for more details on compressing backup to tape/disk.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_NW70EHP1core/helpdata/en/65/96f1e4a6974512962197918624e1c5/frameset.htm

You need to update initSID.sap file for 'compress' command.

Hi,

If you want to take the backup using DB13 then set the value for the parameter compression to "Yes" in the profile file init<SID>.sap.

If you are taking the backup using brtools, then you have the option to compress the backup in the menu itself.

If you would like to exceute the backup using brbackup command then use the paramter "-k" with value "yes".

Good Luck.

The interesting thing is when i try to run the back from the brtools menu with the compression option as "yes"..

I get the error "locked choice"..

My brtools version is is 7.00 (24).

ORACLE database version is 10g

How do i unlocked it?

then search the web a bit as this was answered many times before.
