Prepare: Initialization Module requests higher version of DBSL.

Hi all,

I'm carrying out an upgrade from 4.5B to ECC 6.0. All was OK in the development system. Now in QAS system, during Initialization module in Prepare, all phases run OK, but at the end the results saved in CHECKS.LOG show the following error text:

ERROR: The executable/library DBSL in /usr/sap/trans/upgrade/UTEC/exe

is too old.

It needs at least least patch level

217 or higher for release 700.

Please proceed as described in note 19466.

Of course I have downloaded and replaced old binaries and libraries with the latest ones from SAP Marketplace, but the error still remains, even if I re-run Initialization from the beginning. In fact, I downloaded the whole kernel (SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB) and decompressed both in /usr/sap/trans/upgrade/UTEC/exe directory, with no results.

System Info:

Source rel: 4.5B

Target rel: ECC 6.0 SR3

OS: AIX 5.3

DB server: DB2 for Z/OS ver 8.1

Any ideas or comments will be appreciated. Thank you!

Francisco

I've seen similar problems with bad TP or R3TRANS version.

I fixed this by replacing the executable and also resetting PREPARE... and start from scratch.

In my case I have upgraded SAPUP version from /swdc> Additional comp> Upgrade tools--> SAPUP (Non Unicode) and overwritted in DBINDEPENDENT directory.

HI,

I'm getting the following error when upgrading from 4.7 to ecc6.0 during PREPARE

ERROR:   The executable/library DBSL in /usr/sap/put/exe

         is too old.

It needs at least least patch level

275 or higher for release 700.

ERROR:   The executable/library SAPLICENSE in /usr/sap/put/exe

         is too old.

It needs at least least patch level

266 or higher for release 700.

Please let me know how to overcome this issue. Because of this, I'm not able to proceed.

Hi again,

The problem was solved, as you wrote, by resetting PREPARE, taking the latest versions of binaries and starting from scratch.

Thank you very much for your answers.

Hi Francisco,

When you say you took "the latest version of the binaries" ... where did you put them?

Obviously not in your current /sapmnt/<SID>/exe directory ....

Did you drop these in the upgrade exe directory? Did you also update the exenew directory?

I'm getting the following error when upgrading from APO 3.0a to SCM 5.0 (NW 700) during PREPARE

ERROR: The executable/library DBSL in /usr/sap/trans/upgrade/PPN/exe

is too old.

It needs at least least patch level

275 or higher for release 700.

Cheers

Shaun

Hi Francisco,

This sounds like it might be a bug. These are usually fixed with the latest sapup/ehpi fix.

Usually these would need to be used from the very beginning.

Please reset the prepare as per the guide.

Download and implement the latest spam/saint version, tp and R3trans versions, dbsl patch level and the latest sapup/ehpi fix

Then start the prepare again and revert back if you encounter the same error.

Regards,

Paul
