This is new Business senario in my side kindly help me any one done previous here all materials maintain batch management
like one material exaple Iron ore i send to One plant to another plant every day like STO quanity is 10000 ton i send to one plant to another plant approximatly it will take 10 days like every day i take the sample i analysed what i am enter in the results the results automatic updated in classification view my query is
11082010-100ton - my results 60%
12082010- 100ton-my results 54%
13082010-100ton-my result 62%
when i enter the result against batch that characteristics values automatic updated means last values updated automatic my client want weighted avarage should be updated inclassification view can any body guide me how weighted average will updated means 100X60%X100X54%X100X62%/100100100 = W.Average

Are you sending these over as one batch or multiple batches?
If I understand what you are saying is that you have an STO for 10,000 tons.
1000 tons per day arrives. You sample it and test it.
The actual daily weights will vary. The test you are doing wil vary of course to.
You want to have a weight average for the entire 10,000 tons that changes daily as the new qty and values are received.
To do this, I think you'll need to use a single batch to receive the material. I.e. batch 12344 is used to receipt each day for the whole week. Use control inspection lot for each material document. This will give you a separate inspection lot for each receipt done.
I think the only way to accomplish what you want is with a follow-up action on the UD code. After the UD is made on any lot, the batch record will be updated with the results of the current lot.
Use the follow-up action to find all lots for the batch number, get all quantities and results, calculate the weight average, and update the batch record.
The cloest thing that SAP has is the ability to average inspection point values. But unless you use the inspection points with an 03 lot, the average doesn't transfer to the batch. And it is a straight average, not a weighted average.

HI Lakshmi,
How are you entering the results? in one operation or they are entered in different operations? If its in the same operation, then you can use calculated characteristic in reference to class characteristics.
