Move of DB Server for Windwos / MS SQL

Hello all,

we are planing for our SAP Application Server Java NW 7.0 the move of the DB Server from Server abcd0001 to Server efgh0001. The SID of the System will not be changed, because only the DB-Server is affected.

On the SAP Pages I found a lot of Documents for doing a Homogenius Systemcopy. The is discribed that I first have to export Java Settings.

Due to the fact, that we only plan to change the DB Server, from my opinion these steps are not neccesary.

If we have to do this with a ABAP only Instance I would use the STM Tool from the SAP.

Does any one know,

- if such a toll also exist for ABAP or Dual Stack Systems

- or which way I can use to full fill this DB Move

Thanks for your help

Regards

Franz-Josef

Hi.

You can do all systemcopys with SAPINST. ABAP, JAVA and Dual Stack.

An alternative might be DB export and import with DB methods. If i remember correctly you can do it also with BRTOOLS...

i am not sure ur concern, if i understand correctly, please try attach/detach MSSQL-database, there are a number of notes for this method, such as:

151603 <Copying an SQL Server database>

767691 <Migration of SAP Systems to/from MS SQL Server>

1319263 <sapdbctrl: attach MSSQL-database>

hope this helps, if not, let me know pls.
