Web Dynpro report freezes up in IE8

Former Member

Hi All,

I have a problem to open WD report in my IE8 (window 7).

Previously, I can open the report in IE6 or IE7. After I upgrade to IE8, I have problem to open WD report.

After I click on the link, it just freezes up and I cannot click on any selection or do anything to run the report.

Help needed here:

1. Anyone here have the same problem before? Or anyone have fix this issue before?

2. Anyone know what is the basic IE requirements that WD is running on? Is it running on Java scripts? Active X? What is the plug-ins or the Office Web Component that this apps resides on?

Thanks for any comment...:)

Thanks.

We had the same Problem with WebDynpro applications which run on one Workstation and not on the other but we didn't know why.

Now it works fine with 100% Zoom.

Thanks Chris, Amit and Abhimanyu,

Yes, my should support by IE8.

I think I need to add more info here.

The majority of user with IE8 here can use the WD report. Except me and a few user got this problem after upgrade.

Does this problem happen in all Web Dynpro ABAP applications or just this one? Anything special about this particular application? Can you tell us what UI elements it is using?

Hi

We have had a similar problem, within Internet Explorer 8 if you

Goto View

Zoom

100%

If it is anything but 100% then it freezes

JP,

Thanks for you response. I had the same issue when running at 87%. Changed to 100% and all is working again so at least I have a workaround for the users unitl SAP supply a fix.

Hi,

Is there a fix for this from SAP? zoom to 100% also works for us but less than ideal for users.. Thanks!

For ABAP stack there's a note... 1403775

Not sure if there's one for the Java Stack.

Looks like this problem continues. We just upgraded SAP Solution manager to support pack stack 27 and ran into this problem with windows XP or windows 7 and IE8 if zoom changed to something other than 100%. In this particular case we were then unable to run the maintenance optimizer. Changing zoom back to 100% fixed the problem but I did log a note and SAP provided note numbers 1534606, 1543743 and 1543744 that should correct the problem. I believe these notes will be included with the next support pack stack.

Internet Explorer 8 is supported for Web Dynpro ABAP starting SP20.

If you are running 701 SP5 implement Note: 1406635

hi,

The official support package that introduces IE8 on Windows 7 comes with the following

WD ABAP support packages :

1 NetWeaver04,SP25 / NW6.40,SP25.

2 NetWeaver04s,SP20 / NW7.0,SP20.

3 NetWeaver04s,EHP1 SP05 / NW7.01,SP05.

Please check the official SAP Marketplace service support notes :

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1347768

Please check the SAP NetWeaver7.0 Product Availability Matrix (PAM) on SAP Market Place for the same.

Hi KinShin.

check the product availability matrix (PAM) on service marketplace to see if the support pack level stack you are running supports IE8.

here you will find a link showing you the browser support per patch level - check if IE8 is supported for the stack you are running.

Hope this helps,

Chris
