Web AS 6.40 Java and SAP GUI

Former Member

Hi all!

I just received the book "Java Programming with SAP Web AS" which included the DVD Web AS Java 6.40 SP9. I installed the server and started it successfully. I'm able to reach it via http://localhost:50000.

However, when I try to reach it via SAP GUI, it says "Waiting for response" and stays like that forever.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

You can not access the Web Application Server's java stack from the SAPgui. The SAPgui is used to access the ABAP stack only. You must access thru the browser.

Thanks!

I thought I'd be able to do some ABAP & Java practicing with only one product.

Unforturnatly, we do not have a full Sneak Preview(ABAP & Java) available for download on SDN....yet. You can, however, install the Sneak Preview ABAP, then install the Sneak Preview java on the same machine. I have done so using the 2004s Sneak Preview(ABAP) and the Sneak Preview Java Slim Edition. Both are available for download in the download section. If you choose to do this, install the ABAP before the Java. It didn't work when I tried the other way around.
