Hi all i get the below error when am trying to install SAP EHP4

Severe error(s) occured in phase PREP_EXTENSION/ADDON_QCALC!

Last error code set: Internal error: Component EA-APPL => release inconsistency between ncvers (604) and compinfo-old (600)

Dayo,

From the components you pasted I can see your system is on ERP 6 Stack 15. Your kernel has obviously been changed to NW EHP1(7.01) already, did you do that manually or did sapehpi do it ? You should not upgrade it manually.

Some notes:

• Make sure you are using the latest SPAM/SAINT version - a lot of queue calculation errors are a result of this not being done.

• Go through Note 1143022 - Installation of SAP Enhancement Package 4 on SAP ERP 6.0 and apply all corrections

• Go through http://service.sap.com/erp-ehp -> "How to install EHP4"

In Solution Manager you should be able to select the highest available EHP4 SPS. You should also be able to upgrade directly from ERP 6 SPS 15 -> EHP4 SPS 06(including NW EHP) without first updating your existing system. I have done this several times myself already. You do not have to specifically add ERP Stacks to the queue. Let Solution Manager manage what support packages are required.

If your Solution Manager system is setup correctly with this system you are upgrading then you should have no problem with selection of support packages required for this install. Do not deselect any support packages chosen by SM as this will result in inconsistencies in queue calculations(the EHP4 guide specifically mentions this).

Not sure what you mean here.

Check SAP Note 1064635 - SAP ERP Enhancement Packages: SP Stacks Release Info Note.

What I understand from this note is this that you have to be on Stack 17 before you upgrade to EhP4 SPS06.

Equivalent SP Stack Levels
The SP equivalence levels for the enhancement packages are listed below. This also determines your upgrade path to any enhancement package:
EhP4 SPS06 -- EhP3 SPS06 -- EhP2 SPS07 -- SAP ERP 6.0 SPS17
EhP4 SPS05 -- EhP3 SPS05 -- EhP2 SPS06 -- SAP ERP 6.0 SPS16

So what it means is that you have to bring up ECC to Stack 17 first before you upgrade the system to EHP4 SP6.

You understood incorrectly.

What they are trying to say in that note is what the equivalence of corrections are in different EHP levels. So as an example in the first line:

EhP4 SPS06 -- EhP3 SPS06 -- EhP2 SPS07 -- SAP ERP 6.0 SPS17

What this means is the same corrections(SP equivalence) are contained in EHP4 SPS06 as in EhP3 SPS06 and ERP 6.0 SPS17 etc

The comment from SAP - "This also determines your upgrade path to any enhancement package" just means that if for example you were on SAP ERP 6.0 SPS15 you would then not install EHP4 SPS02 as this contains corrections lower than the equivalence of ERP6.0 SPS15 so you would then need to install the equivalent of EHP4 SPS03 or higher.

You seem to be getting confused between Stacks and SP's. A support package can be of a lower value than the actual stack value.

So that we are all on the same page, please post your component levels here.

Can you tell us what is the current version of your EA-APPL ? And also to what Stack of EHP4 you are upgrading to.

Not sure if re-installing the system will fix the issue.

Since you have upgraded the system stack 17, you have to generate a new xml file from Maintenance Optimizer.

Did you reset the installation ? You can't just repeat the phase and hope it will know all SP's you have added to the system.

Check Note 1165437 - "Enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP: Required support packages" and note the "Technical prerequisite" which reads:

If you update ERP components with SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0, you must include all Support packages up to SP08 for version 600 of these components in the import queue for technical reasons (you may include all SPs up to SP stack 13 as used in the other components for more convenience).

That error you are getting is likely because you have not met this prerequisite.

What is the current stack level of ECC system ? Check SAP Note 1064635 - SAP ERP Enhancement Packages: SP Stacks Release Info.

Also have you used Solution Mangers Maintenance Optimizer to download Enhancement Pack ?
