Regarding Production version

Hi gurus,

can anyone explain me what is production version...?

can we have a two to three production version for same product.

and how the system will select if we maintain 2 to 3 production version.

.....Please let me know if any customizing to be done.

Find the answer of your query :

can anyone explain me what is production version...? :- It is a combination of specific BOM Alternative along with Specific routing (counter number ) which is pre-defined for a production process to manufactured a FG/SFG etc .

can we have a two to three production version for same product.: Yes you can have as many number of production version based on your production process with a combination of BOM alternative and Routing selection .

how the system will select if we maintain 2 to 3 production version : SAP system select the Production Version based on MRP4 view BOM Explosion and Selction Method Indicator .Basically , SAP MRP system explode BOM based on this selection method assinged in MRP4 view .This intern select the Production Version as per the selection method No 2 and 3.

If you select BOM explosion and selection method as 2 means Selection by production version i.e system will check the Lot Size and Valid From and Valid To date of the PV based on the order qty and selt the PV.If you select the Option 3 means , it will not chek BOM qty or Explosion date , rather strict to PV Lot size and validdity .

However , PV selection will be automatic during creation of Production Order based on the Order Type dependent parametrs -OPL8 -PV selection indicator should be 0-Automatic Selection Of PV.

Hi,

Production Version (PV) is combination of BOM and Routing. If any one between BOM or Routing change then Production Version will change. It is there in Material Master in tab page "MRP 04".

If BOM or Routing changes then PV also change.

In Selection methode two options are vailbe releated to PV-

Selection by order quant.

1 Selection by explosion date

2 Selection by production version

3 Selection only by production version

1)With Selection by order quantity, the system chooses the alternative BOM into whose lot size range the order quantity falls. The lot size range and area of validity of the BOM apply.

2)With Selection by explosion date, the system chooses the alternative BOM into whose area of validity the date falls according to the setting BOM via dates.

3)With Selection by production version, the system chooses the alternative BOM defined in the valid production version. The lot size range and area of validity of the production version apply.

4) With Selection only by production version, the system chooses the alternative BOM defined in the valid production version. The lot size range and area of validity of the production version apply.

If no production version is found, no production orders or process orders can be created.

Hi,

The Production Version determines which alternativa bom to be used along with which Master recipe Counter to Produce the Finished Product/Semifinshed Product

The Production Version can be created in MRP4 View of the Material Master. Alternatively you can also create in Mass Transaction C223.

You can create Maximum 9999 number of Production Versions in the Standard SAP System.

Production Versions can be Manually Selected , during Conversion of Planned Order into Process Order or Customize in such a way that system automatically Select the relevant Production Version Based on Lot Size/Validity Periods etc.

Dear,

The Production Versions are used to explain the production process in planned / production order.

The uses of the production versions are based on:

1. Lot size qty

2. Bom explosion dates

3. Based on MRP Group

Suppose you have 2/3 production lines and 2/3 alternative BOMs to produce one FG.

How system will come to know which BOM and Routing to be used ? This is done thru Prod.Version.

In production version we maintain the combination of BOM and routing.

Also it can be designed with lot size or validity period.

Go to MM02--->MRP4 / Work scheduling view -

> Prod.Version.

Enter the validity period and lot size.

After entering the reqd. routing no. and BOM alternative , carry a check.

After getting the Green signals ,Continue.

Thus you have saved the prod. version.
