SAP CRM, ECC and MDM Integration for Contacts Data

Greetings all,

We are in the strategy phase of a project where we would like to integrate CRM, ERP and MDM for contact data. A user will add a new contact in CRM which will then flow into MDM and then from MDM to SAP ERP/ECC.

We were just wondering if there are other MDM experts who have implemented this or similar scenario and if they would like to share their experience with us. What were some of the major challenges that you faced while implementing this scenario and what are the limitations we should be aware of?

Secondly, what IDOC structures did you use to transfer the data between the three systems? If you didn't use IDOCs then what data format did you use?

Hi

We have worked in similar integration scenarios. SAP MDM was used for consolidation and CRM was used for capturing new creation of Business Partners. We used web services from the CRM for performing search, showing duplicates if any from MDM. We also used slave repositories for bulk of the Read/Search operations from CRM.

Some challenges faced were-

1. Calling the webservices from ecommerce portal and performance on matching.

2. Capturing the Address details and maintaining the bidirectional update for for Address and BP records within SAP MDM.

3. Synchronisation of the slave repositories.

4. Import of the Address record and BP record into MDM- Sequentiallly and maintaining relationships between them.

For syndication to ECC we used ADRMAS and DEBMAS for populating the Customer master details.

IDOC isn't transfer between external SAP systems and MDM, but you can use SAP MDM 7.1 PI adapter:

in other case you can use(modify) standart integration scenario.

True that MDM doesn't import data in IDOCs but ERP and CRM export data in IDOCs to PI. Question is what IDOCs will be exported from CRM for contacts information? If the IDOCs are ADRMAS or some other IDOCs?
