SAP recommends to assign language D to codepage 1100

Hello,

after migrating our DEV system from codepage 1401 to Unicode 4102 we get a warning when transporting from the Unicode migrated system to the QAS system which is still single codepage (1401):

"SAP recommends to assign language D to codepage 1100".

The table that is transported doesen't have a LANG field.

Can anyone hint me into the right direction what to do about this?

Hi Thorsten,

please have a look at SAP note 638357 point a) - text block 6.

The special characters belonging "officially" to Germany (äöüß) will be handled correctly.

However there are some other special characters (like e.g. §, ²,³ ... ) which might be used with language D in Unicode systems and which will be converted to "#" when transporting them from Unicode to a Latin-2 system - because they are simply not supported in the target system.

This is the reason for the warning.

However this problem is not restricted to texts with language D only - it is valid for any transfered texts from Unicode to Non-Unicode systems.

Please also check SAP note 1322715 point 9).

Thanks a lot Nils. I found all the required information in the SAP notes you hinted me at.
