Hi All,

I am not able to start sap services in services.msc. I am getting the below error.

The SAPSM5_00 service on local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for exaple performance logs and Alert service.

I tried reinstalling using sapstartserv.exe but it is not working. plz advise me

Thanks in advance

First of all check the logon tab of the service and user status, from which the service is getting started.

You can change the user to your current logged in user and start the service (if you have suff access privilages then it works).

Hi,

cannot create Service, service is marked for deletion

error indicates that you have already deleted the service.

Close you command prompt and again try to register the service.

Thanks

Have you tried the old restart the box?... If they are supposedly marked for deletion but still there this should be gone with a OS restart, then register the service again.

On which SAP version you are ? A trick of running "Central" Installation from SAPInst which rebuilds your services on your host.

But before that check with environment variable / partitions dirive letters etc., also look for changes happened before on system level from "EventViewer" Application & Sytstem.

Check whether the credential maintained in service is correct ?

Hi,

And also check for the path in the service, see if the path is pointing to the right executable.

You can do so by right clicking on the service and check properties.

You can modify the path by changing it in the registry.

Hi,

If you have any backup of the file existing sapstartserv.exe in any of our oldbackups or in any other system, then copy that and replace it. Then try to start the service and see. If that is not there then try to download from service market place and try.

Also, check if the sapmnt and saploc share exists in sap folder under usr.

Revert back if still you have the issue.

Hi Sharath,

I replaced old file with other system's file... I am still getting the same error. There are no sapmnt and saploc folders present under sap folder. Is there any solution?? or only re installation is the solution for this??

Hi,

Goto services.msc and double click on the service which you have created.

In general tab you will get section where you will get information of PATH OF EXECUTABLE.

tell me what is a value overthere

Thanks

hi Anil,

E:\usr\sap\SM5\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\sapstartsrv.exe" pf="E:\usr\sap\SM5\SYS\profile\START_DVEBMGS00_chnmct211397d"

this is the path here.

Hi,

SAPMNT and SAPLOC are not the folders but the share name. Right click on sap folder and if you can see any sharing and Security option click on that and see if you can see the share names as saploc and sapmnt. If the shares are missing then you can create the same by sharing the folder with these two names. You can take the help from your OS guys and after that try to start the service, and it will start if shares are missing.

Good Luck!!!!!
