Oracle Database not working

Former Member

Hi Gurus,

I tried to start up the database by issuing the command on my Dev server

c:\>sqlplus/nolog

connect / as sysdba

"startup,"

and I am getting the following error:

ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel

And the second time I issued the command, I got the following errors:

ORA-24324 service handle not initialized

ORA-01041 internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist.

O.S IS WINDOWS 2003.

ORACLE RDBMS Version: 10.2.0.2.0

Pls advice.

Thanks.

which options was chosen when running CHKDSK?

was Oracle UP and RUNINNG when CHKDSK ran?

Hi eric,

When we restarted the server ,it automatically started running chkdsk and we didnt cancelled it.so the oracle database was down when chkdsk was running.

After the chkdsk finished and once windows booted we were unable to start the database.

Hi

Check that owner of the database are able to write to all the fileareas.

Check that you are using sqlplus.exe located in %ORACLE_HOME\bin and not in e.g. the ooracle_client dir.

Remember the space between 'sqlplus' and '/nolog'

HI,

Contact to oracle for ORA-07445 or see the MetaLink note Note:208922.1

Dear Nadeem,

your oracle Database was started with incorrect ORA_NLS10 parameter, so now you have to follow these steps

1. SQL> shutdown

2. Set the parameter NLS to the correct value as per MOS Note ID - 553264.1

3. SQL> Startup

this should be solve your issue....

What about the space on your drives, do you have enough space for files to grow?

Also check your permissions on the files specified.
