MDM 5.5 : db2sid Password changed - Not able to connect to Catalogue

Hi Guys,

Recently we changed the password the db2sid user at OS level for the MDM 5.5 system.

After changing the password we are facing issues in connecting to Catalogue.

1) When we try to stop mds or mdis at OS level below is the error we get.

Loading '/sapmnt/MDA/LangStrings/CatMgrCommonCore.lang' (eng_US)...

Loaded 1418 strings from '/sapmnt/MDA/LangStrings/CatMgrCommonCore.lang'

Error: 0xffaa0202, Invalid password

2) When we try to connect to MDM catalgoue in MDM console we get the below error.

"Respository connect failed : Error: Invalid logon credentials".

3) And also at the database level we see many errors in db2diag.log.

2010-08-04-17.39.43.101803+060 I32916A271 LEVEL: Warning

PID : 7974 TID : 1

FUNCTION: DB2 Common, Security, Users and Groups, secLogMessage, probe:20

DATA #1 : String, 65 bytes

Password validation for user db2mda failed with rc = -2146500507

Please let us know the actual procedure to change the db2sid password. I think there is something we need to look into mds.ini file where some password entry is encrypted.

Below are the entries in mds.ini.

Hi Manje,

Password+=F4SNPQ0S9E76K84CLGUA1GHVME4UNQIBJRQM860

I would suggest give same password you have change at OS level or keep this password as blank after that restart the sever and connect to repository

Hope this will solved your problem if not then revertback

Hello Manje

After changing the password we need to restart the MDS for the encryption to happen automatically.

Save the password in mds.ini file without the encryption and then open the mds.ini file again after restarting the MDS.

You can follow the below thread for steps-

Hi Manje.

As mentioned by the experts try to change the password, restart the MDM server. Now try to login to the MDM Console and try to connect to a repository if it works now try to launching the Catalog application, it should work now.

Hi All,

We are currently facing similar scenario, in which DB password is made re-set. Can I do the same process as mentioned above - Changing password in CONFIGURATION file(.ini file) will that alone be enough ? or do we need to change at OS level too.

If so may I know how to change the password in OS level.

Thanks in advance.
