Project Coding Mask

Hello All,

Is it possible to have coding mask for first 10 values without any special character?

Such as

SAPPROJECT-XXX-XXX

I can do this without using coding mask. But when coding mask is used, it only allows 5 values. Has any one modified that?

Thanks

To configure coding mask is not mandatory

you can use any project name and the system will work

however there are lots of advantages of using coding mask - like the creation of projects is structured and hierarchical, useful in programs to clearly identify WBS, use it for authorisation with exits etc

You can tick the edit box in special characters OPSK mask to make sure that projects can only be created using the entries defined in the coding mask configuration OPSJ

In your case if you want to use 10 char then you cannot define this as coding mask as only 1-5 is allowed. There are various scenarios

use 10 char and also defined masks - in this case define the mask in OPSJ but so not tick Edit in OPSK

use only 10 char - this is not possible as you o not define coding mask and also allow any project numbering which means the user can type anything 10-15 char etc

use only defined coding mask - tick edit in OPSK and define the usable coding mask in OPSJ

This is not possible in std. SAP. And if at all possbile not good option. As indirectly you are limintin numering option for your Mask by making first 10 charater fixed.

Hi Raj Sidhu,

I think this is the standard behavior. We can have maximum of 5 chars at the prjID, so we cannot have more than 5 characters without any special character.
