Integration Broker

Hello,

again I have problems to understand the architekture in detail. <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/de/0f/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm">Here</a> is the XI component describe as Integration Broker (IB), but as description stands that the IB ist only a capability of SAP NW which is supported by XI.

But what hides behind the IB? Is it the architektur in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/de/0f/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm">this image</a> ??

I can't find a satisfying solution in the documentation

The image what you are looking tells how XI is operating in Netweaver. It says we have process integration in Netweaver where it has two components: Integration Broker & BPM. Also if you have a specific question can you post it here?

My question is, if the integration broker is the component that includes the integration server?!

I can't explain what the integration broker is for.

Documention only says, that the IB is a capability of SAP supported by XI. The integration server instead should

be a runtime component.

but what kind of capability the IB got isn't explain

Hi,

Integration Broker is nothing but the EAI or middleware tool tht SAP has come up with.

It is used for Interfacing between different systems. If you need to send the data from one system to another you use the basic functionality of SAP XI. If you need to send the data based on a certain condition that is you want to make your data stateful then you use BPM .

The main components are

1. Integration Builder which is the design time of the SAP XI

2. The Runtime which includes (Adapter engine, Integration server and BPM)

You can say that in Netweaver there is a layer named Process Integration which comprises of IB and BPM. All the simple scenarios of XI will come under IB and all scenarios in which BPM is involved will be falling under the BPM section.

Hi Chris,

In general, SAP defines Integration Broker as a middleware, that helps to communicate between two or more Enterprise Applications. In other words, we can say that Integration Broker is the technical name given by SAP for SAP Exchange Infrastructure.

Integration Server is a component that handles all the configuration things that we do in Integration Directory.

thanks for your help.

Summarizing I can say, that the component Process Integration includes the Integration broker (IB), which is the technical name of SAP XI. All simple szenarios (without mapping and so on) can be realized here. More complex

szeanrios are assign to BPM.

With the IB as middleware you can communicate between two or more Enterprise Applications (SAP oder no-SAP-Applications). The IB includes the Integration Builder, for creating (Repository) and configure (Directory) a szenario, and the Integration Server as runtime environment for managing message exchange.
