Impact to Universe

Hi,

How does a Universe or report get impacted when Bex Query changes for ex Adding/Modifying a Characteristic or restricted KeyFigures.

Points will be assigned.

in the universe designer, import the universe

then click "View" from the menu

and from there, click "Refresh structure"

this will update the universe to match the last state of the query.

Hi Vamsi,

It is better to have separate query dedicated for the use in Business Objects Universe that is different from the one used by the users through existing BI tools (BEx/Web Analyzer,portal etc.)

If you update the query, but not the Universe and associated reports, based on the type of change the BO report may not may not run successfully. For e.g. removing any characteristic that is being used in Universe/BO report will definitely result in inconsistencies in Universe/BO report. So, good practice will be to sync BO along with the changes to the BI query.
