Hello,
several SAP ERP 6.0 systems on x86_64 have to be moved to new servers in a different computing center.
The source systems are running on SuSe Linux 10 and MAXDB 7.6.
It is planned to install the new systems on SuSe Linux 11.
Problem: The PAM states that SAP Kernel 7.00 and MAXDB 7.6 are not supported on SuSe 11.
SAP note 129352 states that a 7.6 backup can't be used for a 7.7 installation.
Due to organizational reasons, it is not possible to perform a MAXDB upgrade to version 7.7 on the source system before the system copy.
My idea:
1. Database backup on the source system with MAXDB 7.6
2. Installation of MAXDB 7.6 on the target system (SLES 11) <- Will it work??
3. Database upgrade to version 7.7 on the target system
So is it generally possible to install MAXDB 7.6 on SLES 11 and is this combination temporarily supported for the installation phase?
Regards
Thomas

Yes - it's just that it's not supported.

I've imported quite a few backups from 7.6 to a 7.7 target database without any problems.
