Hi
I have installed NW2004s ABAP only on 2003 server with oraccle database. I have installed two instances with SID's DEV & PRD. I have one loop-back adapter and 2 Listeners(OraclePRD102TNSListener and OracleDEV102TNSListener). Initially both the listeners were working fine and now OraclePRD102TNSListener is not getting started and when I try to start it through services.msc, it is throwing the below pop-up
*************************************************************************
Listener service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do,
for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service.
**************************************************************************
I didn't changed any ip address nor any setting. Both the *.ora files are looking good and nothing is abnormal.
Looking forward your suggestions.
Hi,
Make sure that the oracle listener port is different for both the instances running on the same host. Else recreate the listener services so that both the instance will listen from different ports.
Also check whether the ip address is maintained in the hosts file correctly.

Hi,
Make sure that both LISTENERs are having different name and are running on different port.
(Check the name and port in <drive>:\oracle\<SID>\102\network\admin\tnsnames.ora)
You might have used same port (default) for both listeners.
Also check host entry in C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.
(if it doesn't solve the issue, change the command line for both listener from registry...)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OraclePRD102TNSListener
ImagePath = <ORACLE_HOME>\bin\lsnrctl <prd_listener_name>
Do the same thing for second listener...
Regards.

Thanks Rajesh
I have changed one of port from 1527 to 1521. Now both the Listeners are up and running. Even system was up initially and then disp+work.EXE got stopped. Could you please advise if I need to change something ? I have checked the host entry in
C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file and it is alright.
Thanks
kumar
