stop use of a material

Hello Experts:

Really need help.

I have a need to stop use of a material anywhere from Incoming MIGO through Fin Goods packed and ready to ship.

Material number may be in a single component or as part of a BOM in a batch.

I have been told to use MSC2N to place it restricted. For time purposes here. Suffice to say THIS WON'T WORK.

Another thought was to deactivate the BOM. u2013 THIS WONT WORK BECAUSE

It only prevents FUTURE orders from being entered in the system since BOMs in SAP auto-open POs for bulk based on forecast, there is always at least one order open for active bulks.

Changing BOM status does NOT stop me from kitting/making a batch.

How do I stop use of a material SAP system wide with these attempts already in mind???

Hi,

If you want to lock the material this option is available in material master itself

Go to T Code MM02 in header level click Lock option tab and save this chnges.

Hi,

Please set the Following settings in material master

1) if you want to block the material in any of the plant , set the X-PLANT material staus in basic data1 view --Blocked for good movement

2) if you want to block the material in your plant , set the PLANT specific material staus in QM view --Blocked for good movement

Above settings will prevent any type of movements for the material
