Planning File Entries and production run taking too long

Hi Gurus -

Is there a way to check what event has created a certain planning file entry in PPDS?

The number of planning file entries in the transaction /SAPAPO/RRP_NETCH seem to be much higher than what I had anticipated. We have similar setups and the number isnt that high and want to see the source or the event which is creating all those entries.

The production planning run is taking 3-4 hours as opposed to 30-40 minutes for similar setup. We have 4-5 levels of semi FG planning and its all infinite planning. lot sizes vary per sem finished and use both Lot-for-lot and daily lot size.

Any other suggestions of decreasing production planning run times will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Which heuristic you are using? You should use MRP_001 with product heurstic instead of directly running SAP_PP_002.

Planning procedure decides whether it is planning relevant change or not have you modified standarad planning procedure 4?

Is there any mass change of product master data recently happened?

If you can find out what time planning file entry is created then you can trace event from the log /SAPAPO/C3 but it will be very time consuming process.

You can improve the performance by parallel processing of planning run? but it has its own impact hence I would suggest to look into above parameters then decide further.

Hope this helps.

Santosh
