LIPS-VGBEL, LIPS-VBELV Fields

Hi all,

What are the difference with these fields ? I look at the table lips and sometimes vbelv field has no value but sometimes has value. Sometimes it has the same value with vgbel field. What does it means?

Hi,

If you read the description of these two fields,

VBELV - Originating document

VGBEL - Document number of the reference document

VGBEL contains document no. of the preceding document.

If a delivery is created with reference to sale order, it will have sales order no as VGBEL.

And if a billing document is created from that delivery, VGBEL for that delivery will be delivery no.

Whereas VBELV is the original document, LIPS also contains deliveries that might be created against Purchase order.

So VBELV can be blank.
