WAS 6.20 +DB/2 Installation successfull but empty Database

Former Member

Hi @ all,

i have a strange issue regarding the WAS6.20 installation. First i started the installation of the DB/2 V7.2 Fixpak 12 - successful.

Than i installed (with some little problems) the WAS 6.20 onto WIN2003-Server. But when i take a look at the control center of the DB/2 i can see the instance but when i open the database, there are no tables etc. created.

Thank you for any hint on this.

Hi Thorsten,

Did you do a 'real' install or a preview (demo) CD install.

In case of a 'real' WAS620 install, you install in the following sequence:

1) install DB2

2) Start SAPinst and install Central Instance (takes 15 minutes)

3) Start SAPinst and install Database Instance (takes bit longer )

There is no Central Instance and Database load install anymore. This is a difference between install in 4.6x and WAS6.x

Hay

Hello Hay,

thank you for your help on this. I followed your steps

and now i arrived step3 which you mentioned.

But i get an Windows error message when the installation

tries to Crete the Database.

"DB2SET.EXE: The application failed to initialize properly(0x0000142)".

When i check the IBM DB/2 controll center i can see, that the tables, views and so on are allready created.

DO you, or someone else have an idea, what this error-message means.

Thank you for you help

Thorsten

Hi @ all,

the issue regarding the DB2SET.EXE is solved. It was a permission problem in WIN2003. The best is, that all users which will be created during the installation should have admin rights. Than it works.

Thanks

Thorsten
