Delay in project as per date

Hi All

I have created three activities in my project.

Activity 1 - start date 28/07 to end date 06/08 duration - 10 days

Activity 2 - start date 07/08 to end date 23/08 duration - 15 days

Activity 2 - start date 24/08 to end date 14/09 duration - 20 days

In actual when i confirm activity my 1st activity get delay from 4 days

Activity 1 - start date 28/07 to end date 10/08 duration - 14 days

when I check in report system not show any delay. how we would get delays for the activity. also when i reschedule its consider 11/08 is start date for my second activity but never indicate anywhere delay of activity in project plannig board or gant

chart. can any one gives inputs on same.

I dont think you will see delay in Gantt chart, however you can see delay in structure reports, check the fields available for structure reprot of activity. and regarding your second query, Why system consider the 11/08 as start date for activity 2 after rescheduling, check in SAP HELP.

Hi Ahmed,

I already search structure related report CNS41 in which delay column its don't show any values but in earlier, later and past out of which three column its show delay if its previous then start date & later if it was later then end date. but not any value in delay column as activity delay by 4 days as also its show diff in duration and actual duration by 4 days.

Why system consider the 11/08 as start date for activity 2 after rescheduling ??

due to my first activity delay by 4 days and FS relationship maintain between each activity after rescheduling system calculate new date for 2nd activity as start date after 4 days ie 11/08 insted of 07/08.

My question is still pending about delay in activity.

You should check in Later column, what is the duration showing in LAter column? also tell me your latest sch. date of the activities.

Hi Ahmed,

I had created project & Network, I had assigned the WBS to the activities and to that activities I had done the FS relationship & then I had schedule the Project. Now I am going to CJ20N & scheduling at the project level using bottom-up scenario. Scheduling gives proper dates.

28.07.2010 to 07.08.2010 duration 10 days

09.08.2010 to 25.08.2010 duration 15 days

26.08.2010 to 17.09.2010 duration 20 days

I confirm my first activity and it delay by 4 days. so now my dates changes as per delay of first activity

28.07.2010 to 12.08.2010 Actual duration 14 days

13.08.2010 to 30.08.2010 duration 15 days

31.08.2010 to 22.09.2010 duration 20 days

In all four column (Delay,Earlier, Later, Past its show no values)

Yes you wont see any values, because system calculates delay by comparing your actual finish and latest scheduling dates. i.e., Actual finis date - Latest Sch. dates. In your case, you have rescheduled the project after confirming and because of that latest sch. date of activity has been changed, i.e., it is changed from 07.08.10 to 12.08.09 due to full confirmation. So, now

actual finish - Lts. Sch. date = 0. So you see 0 value in your report.

The delay is calculated when the actual finish date is beyond the latest finish date, in your case actual date 12.08.2010 must be <= to the latest finish date of that activity. Please check.

The same logic also applies for the rescheduling.

Please check availability of floats, i.e, total and free floats which also have an impact on the scheduling.

Hi All

I have first change in configuration remove tick Schedule automatically from Parameters for Network & WBS scheduling to avoid automatically scheduling after status change. Now again create project as same order with three activities

Activity 1 - start date 29/07 to end date 09/08 duration - 10 days

Activity 2 - start date 10/08 to end date 26/08 duration - 15 days

Activity 2 - start date 27/08 to end date 18/09 duration - 20 days

Now in actual when i confirm my 1st activity by 50% completion (not 100% or final confirmation) consider actual finish date 17/08 ie duration 17 days instead of 10 days and save. In dates i see latest date for this activity not change as I remove auto scheduling tick

Activity 1 - start date 29/07 to end date 09/08 duration - 10 days

Activity 2 - start date 10/08 to end date 26/08 duration - 15 days

Activity 2 - start date 27/08 to end date 18/09 duration - 20 days

In actual start date for activity 1

Activity 1 - start date 28/07 to end date 17/08 duration - 17 days but still in reports Delay,Earlier, Later and Past its show no values. In my case Total & free floats is zero.

Put the basic start date and basic finish date in network and save it. then run the report cn41n and check the delay value
