SM51 Hostname entry

Hi Team,

Can some help me to change SM51 hostname, becasue we have physical hostname and virtual name (both resolves to same ip address) for one of our BI system. To implement SMD we need to have SM51 name to be displayed as Physical hostname rather virutal name. Please guide me.

Hey hey

I suggest NOT changing your system only for SMD. We always have the virtual name in SM51 and SMD works perfectly.

But we install the SMD on the virtual name (sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtualname>) as well, to be able to switch over to a secondary node. So the system and its SMD agent stay together.

Can you be more specific on your particular problem?

Hi Sekhar,

if u want to change your hostname in the sm51 screen then u will have to run rz10 & in rz10 u have to change the host name in the parameter value, after changing the value u have to restart the application server and next time when u will run t code sm51 u will see the changed host name......

From defualt profile Parameter name SAPGLOBALHOST need to change.
