Date formates in abap

HI ,

I am new in ABAP,

when i am dealing with date formats , i am facing some problems

can any one explain me what is difference between below two sentences

DOB4(2) = DOB4(2) + 3.

DOB = DOB+4(2) + 3.

where DOB LIKE SY-DATUM type.

Oh yeah... You can find out yourself what these statements do... by debugging them!
