Backup failed

Hello All,

I often face some problems when i take backup.

I took online backup on tape. But error occurred __BR0215E Label on volume in device /dev/nmt0 has wrong format; BR0218E Checking label on volume in device /dev/nmt0 failed__

Could you people tell me the way to overcome this problem, else tell me what kind of a error it is..

Hi,

This may be because some time you are not "Initializing" tape before taking backup.

So, always initialize tape before taking backup.

Also check below parameter in init<SID>.sap for proper naming format. It should like SIDA01, SIDA02 etc.

volume_backup

and

volume_archive

Hi,

Just re-initialize the tape either by brtools or from the transaction code db13 and execute the option Initialize tape.

This should resolve your issue.

Hi

check the status of your tap drive, is it working fine then check the parameter (backup root dir) in initSID.sap. and also check tap related parameter in initSID.sap file

Simply re-label the tape or use a new tape with label SCRATCH.
