Warehouse Management problem

Hi

We have recently updated all our finished goods part numbers. We are having a problem where in the material master we are setting up the goods to go to storage type 1 but when a transfer is done into the warehouse managed area the goods are going to storage type 3 automatically. How do we solve this as we do not use storage type 3? We are currently only using storage type1? Is it a configuration problem? Please help

Please check your storage type search stratgies and remove storage type 3.

Thank you. Is there a reason why the goods would be transfered to storage type 03 when the master data says it should be storage type 01?

Why do you think master data says your material should be placed into storage type "01" and not "03"? Which field in material master do you think is responsible for that (what is its technical name?)?

I would recommend you:

- compare the settings (material master) of goods before and after the update --> which values have been changed in relation to WM

- check whether there's any change in configuration (storage type,search)

- if you use user exit you should check whether there was any change

If there's change related to material master, you should check field MLGN-LIKZE.

I would also suggest to check whether it is possible to place the goods into the mentioned storage type:

- whether there's a bin in storage type "01"

- whether there's enough capacity

- maybe other goods are already stored in storage bins and no mixed storage is allowed

- etc

And one more IMPORTANT thing:

Please confirm that the storage type search was working fine before you updated the material masters...

Maybe I could go into more detail...

When we created our new part numbers it was decided to set them up in MM01 for storage type 001 ONLY, as we do not use the other storage types anymore.

Storage type 001 has many bins up to 99 . There is no SU managment on the bins, no putaway strat. is open storage, no capacity check, mixed storage without limitations and addition to existings stock permitted.

However for some part numbers when a transfer order is done the parts are moving to storage type 003 without been set up to be stored in that storage type. Our transfers are done without us inputing WM data ( storage type and bin). The only time we see where the system has placed the stock is when we want to confirm the TO in LT23.

If material is extended to 001 then the putaway shall happen in 001. Please check your storage putaway indicator and strategy maintianed for it.

It's not clear what's the meaning of setting up a part for a particular storage type. - please clarify it Please note that you can use your material for every storage type w/o extending them to any storage type.

(=even if you have no record in MLGT only in MLGN you can use the material for all storage types)

Please check your search strategy:

SPRO > LE > WM > Strategies > Activate Storage Type Search

Please also check the "Storage type indicator for stock placement" in your material master:

MLGN-LIKZE

(consider this when checking storage type search strategy)

Please also check the settings maintained for old part numbers and please do not forget user exists too.

I assume standard transaction should work in your system.

In my opinion you should process a putaway TR from LB10 in foreground and check the storage bin search log (from menu). This may help you to find out what the problem is.
