Commitments - impact of purchase acc assignment categories P & Q

Hi Experts,

in Project PR / PO, Purchase account assignment category --

P - consumption GL account is taken by the system (P&L account)

Q - stock GL account is taken by the system (Balance sheet account)

how these two impact the commitments generation?

with Q, I am getting the balance sheet account in the account assignment tab page of PR & I am not gettig any commitments generated. I tried to create a cost element for this & it is by default taking CE category - 90 (statistical). this point is validated with FICO & they say that this is correct.

where am I missing the link?? For "P" acc assignment, I am able to generate commitments.

can't I generate Commitments if I go for Project Stock??

For project stock( Q) as well as P( Direct consumption ) we can generate commitment. You need to check how Gl is getting determied.

Hi Nitin,

for both "P" & "Q" , GL account is being determined from "obyc" ... chart of accounts, BSX "inventory control & valuation class combination.

for Q a balance sheet account is maintained & for P, a P&L account.

Are you using valuated Project stock than in case of Q it is correct to determine BSX. Let us wait for others opinion.

The Note 47992 and 496784 have the solution to your problem.

The "Q" position it's work fine, because MRP create the purchase requisition and this not have commitment associated.

The "N" and "P" are outside of MRP and you have budget commitment.
