Changing OS version from HP-UX 11.23 to HP-UX 11.31

Dear Consultant

We have installed the below SAP server on HP Unix 11v2. The Project has just completed the integration testing and UAT.

1. ECC 6.0

a. ECC Development u2013 Installed

b. ECC Quality - Installed

c. ECC Production System u2013 Installed

2. BI 7.0

a) BI Development u2013 Installed

b) BI Quality - Installed

3. PI 7.0

a) PI Development u2013 Installed

b) PI Quality - Installed

Now we have purchased new hardware which is supporting only HP-UX 11.31.

Please clarify the below points

1. Is it requiring installing the fresh SAP on new platform?

2. Is Migration need to be done from one HP-UX 11.23 to HP-UX 11.31

3. Can we copy the SAP software and data on new platform and upgrade the kernel only?

Please suggest the right approach

Required not, but I would do so. And after the installation, you can copy over the existing profiles and environment variables.

The installation is also performing some checks on your system, so it is always advisable to perform an installation on a new host.

No, the platform stays HP-UX, so it is homogeneous.

3. Can we copy the SAP software and data on new platform and upgrade the kernel only? 

Yes, that is possible.. The Oracle software should be installed, not copied over.

Need some more clarification as below :

If my development and quality is on HP-UX 11v23 and production system is on HP-Unix 11v31. Can we transport the request from DEV to QAS (same UNIX version) to HP-Unix 11v31.

There shouldn't be any problem as far as your Kernel, SAP Version (Patch level) and Database release (including Patches) are same.
