0003 Error during initialization tape

I am trying to initialize tape using DB13 but i am getting following error

Hello Rupesh,

I got a similar error, i mean when I check the logs in DB14, I get 0003 error during initialization. kinldy advice as the jobs are failing since many months

This problem occurs when you restart your server after removing SCSI backup device. so at the time of hardware checking server don't find any SCSI device. and when we attach the device after server restart it initialize with diff. port instead what ever we mention in initSID.sap file.

I solved this issue by shutdown by restarting the Device.

Hi Rupesh,

Try to take the test backup from os level with tar once to check the working/connectivity of tape disk with OS/Server.

Also try to initilize the tape, below mention contains will help you for the same.

Have u tried to initialize the tape using BRTools directly at the OS level as the ora<sid> user ?

Could you please post below details:

tape_address and tape_address_rew

for above should be different in rew it's 'n' also post system, os details if it's not solve.
