Problem setting the FQDNs

Hi, Right now we are installing from the beginning the Solution Manager 7.0 Ehp1 in Linux Oracle system (we had to uninstall our Solution Manager 7.0 because it presented some errors in its Java component), right now Our Basis is not available for like a month and we are having problems with the FQDN setting , We have read about setting the SAPLOCALHOSTFULL, SAPLOCALHOST and the icm/host_name_full, but we dont know where to set those and a step by step about this would be aprecciated.

Thanks for your answers

Paul

Hi Jared , thank for the answer, the problem is that we are stuck in the installation step about the definition of the FQDN, so we can not run any transaction in our SM (It is not installed yet)

Hi Paul,

The option to enter the Fully Qualified Hostname in solution manager will come when you run the solman_setup. So for now, ensure that the system that you are using to install solman is setup with a fully qualified hostname at the OS level. This way when you have to configure the system, the hostname would have already been setup.

If this is the middle of installation where it asks for FQDN,

1.If u have FQDN defined and if the system is in the domain, then provide the name.

2.If u dont have FQDN, just click the checkbox (so that its empty) and continue with the installation.

If u have done with installation and having problem with FQDN, pls check the below link, that might help.

Hello Paul,

The Solution Manager system needs to have a Fully Qualified Hostname configured. In order to do so, you will need to add

the parameter icm/host_name_full to the Instance Profile.

First I would suggest you log onto the SM system

Run Tcode RZ10

In the Profile tab, select the Instance Profile

Click on Extended Maintenance

Click on Change

Now add the parameter icm/host_name_full using the Parameter tab

Enter the fully qualified hostname in the value section. This must include the domain..example solman.companyA.com

Save this parameter

You must restart the instance in order for this profile to take effect.

I would suggest you restart and then run rz10 again and verify that the parameter is there.

Many times the saving part of the parameter is not properly done so the parameter is not saved.

Regards,

Jared
