Hello,
We are using SRM MDM 5.5 together with SRM 5 and we are facing the following issue.
We have added some items in the catalogs which are actually transportation and installation costs.
Depending on several factors the user has to select the correct installation/transportation cost as a seperate item together with the main Item.
Example:
Main Item = A
Transportation cost < 50 km = B
Transportation cost < 100 km = C
Transportation cost >100 km = D
So depending on the distance the user will have to select item B, C or D also each time he selects Item A.
We would like to accomplish the following:
- The end user can not select item A on its own. He will have to be forced to select B, C or D together with it
- Items B, C and D cannot be selected individually. (Item type = component)
- The user cannot select More than one item together with item A. (E.g. Item A, B and C).
We have tried by setting up a parent child relationship between these Items but none of the Item Types give us a satifactory solution.
Item Type bill of material looks good but the user can still select the item form the main screen and all the 3 items will be transfered together if he doesn't change it. We want to force the user to think about his choice and select the correct items in order to avoid erronious shopping carts.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks in advance

Hi Djurick.
I have some queries based on your questions.
The example which you have provided seems that for the selected main item, the transportational cost (B/C/D- any one of the above) should be allowed to add with the main item.
Why did you choose parent-child relationship for this usecase? Does it mean the transportational cost is also an item in that repository? If that is not the case and the child items are only value, why can't you use the functionality of Assignments to achive this.
Regards
Bala
