Hi:
I am a functional consultant and looking for some advise related to OSS notes.
We applied one OSS note in our system. That note has program corrections. In the correction instructions, it tells what change it is going to make in the program.
When we applied this note, the changes are still not reflected in the program. Not sure why this happened. Our basis consultant is saying note is applied successfully as he checked the log in the system.
What could be the reason for the changes not reflected? Also can we reapply the note even though as per log it says it is applied already?
Thanks.
Rahul
Hello Rahul,
You can check the note version number and see if the correction you saw are indeed for the patch level you have.
You should be able to de-implement the note and reapply it later on.
You can also check the versioning of the program and see if a new version is available, but not active.
I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Cristiano

Hi Cristiano:
Thanks for the reply. This OSS note was applied as part of service packs upgrade. Currently the service pack we are at is same as what OSS note says. So patch level is same.
Any quick pointer on how to de-implement the note for re-application?
I am guessing that somehow the note didn't get apply successfully when service packs were upgraded... though not sure if that is technically feasible.
Thanks.
Rahul
Hi Rahul,
To "de-implement" a OSS Note you have to access:
SNOTE transaction -> SAP Note menu -> Reset Sap Note Implementation option
Be aware when people with just basis skill implements OSS Notes. In fact, it has to be done by the abap/basis skill.
Try to talk with your basis team because some programs should had appeared with yellow flag and then you have to analyse the program lines and try to understand the reason.
On the other hand, you've written that this OSS notes which you are trying to implement is inside the SP_X and you are already running your system on this SP_X, then, if I've understood correctly, you don't need to implement this oss note because it has already implemented by the means of support package.

Hi Alexandre:
Thanks for the answer.
Yes, it was part of support packs upgrade. And since the SP_X and this specific OSS note are at same level, I agree we should not need this OSS note implementation. But then why is the program corrections (as per OSS note) not reflected in the program in the system? We need to have these correction instructions implemented. How to implement it now?
Thanks.
Rahul
OSS Note # 1299563, we are at SAP_APPL (ECC 6.0) SAPKH60016
From this note, we have first three steps implemented in the system (Change in BADI definition for MESG parameter) but for the 4th step, where program also has to be changed, is not reflected. Since the program is not changed but BADI is, we are getting short dump with data type mismatch. This program calls the BADI.
Thanks.
Rahul
Hi Rahul,
Try to check the yellow flags on SNote transaction. Have you checked if it appeared when the oss notes was applied?
When SNote transaction doesn't change programs it means that SNote didn't find the right place to delete/insert the changes, and then, yellow flags appears.
On the other hand, you can do manually the oss note changes. You have to request the object key for the REPS LK40CF0T (program used by this oss note) and open this object and insert/delete the codes according to correction instruction from this oss note.
Best Regards,
Alexandre Mendes
