I am looking for evidence, recommendations, or guidance in pushing high volume of transactions (~50k messages/hour) through XI. I would appreciate any feedback.
Hi
PI was able to process 100,000 + messages per hour for me. With this the size of the message was also tested at that time and we were able to 35 MB files easily. More than this we tried out making chunks of 35MB each and we meet the target of 200MB file
We did on SAP XI 3.0 SP 17 and then PI 7.0 SP12. Looking at high volume availability we are working on PI 7.1 for the same
Refer these documents. it will help
Thanks
Gaurav

At a client site during QA, I managed (with Basis) to get over 100,000 messages per hour on a 4 processor AIX as per the sizing guide (it matched pretty much exactly).
This did require quite a lot of J2EE, Basis and XI Config (Integration Engine Paramater) settings. This was for a medium size Matmas and was for Idoc - Idoc messaging with mapping (ergo, no tunneling). This was on 2.0 - the largest problem we had was with Disk, it does get expensive with Disks and logs.
