Hi
We are trying to upgrade our SAP Netweaver 7.0 SR3 BI system to EHP1. We have SAP NW Java system in a different server where both ABAP and JAVA stacks communicate through RFC. My question here is that: Do we need to apply EHP1 for JAVA stack also as mandatory or its optional. If in a scenerio having ABAP stack on EHP1 and JAVA stack is still not on EHP1, would there be any inconsistencies??.
My other question : We have SAP NW BI Dev, quality and production systems. Suppose SAP NW BI Dev system is upgraded to EHP1 and rest of the systems still on NW 7.0, and while transporting change requests from Dev to quality and production, would there any inconsistencies. In a nut-shell, is it mandatory that all Dev,Qas and PRD systems need to be on EHP1.
Hope am clear with my doubts. Your response is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ramakrishna Reddy
Thanks a lot everyone. We will go with EHPi for upgrading to EHP1 for both ABAP and JAVA stacks.

Hi,
You can use SAINT also. But use SAP recommanded method for EHPI installer.
You must download the stackfile.xml and complete Stack with delta component.
Both the system (ABAP+JAVA) you can use EHPI installer. it will support.
Thanks

Thanks a lot sunny, this helps.
One more thing, while upgrading the SAP NW 7.0 system to EHP1, is it better to use EHPinstaller or go for SAINT. Can we use EHPinstaller for JAVA stack too, or any specialized way to upgrade JAVA stack to EHP1.
Thank you,
Ramakrishna Reddy

Hi,
For your first question:
Yes, both ABAP and Java stack should be upgraded to EHP1 level.
As far as transports are concerned, It is not recommended to do transports between system having different SAP releases/SP level. So, all systems should have on same SP's.
Thanks
Sunny
