Listener not started after installing patchset 10.2.0.4

Former Member

Dear All,

I've just patched my Oracle 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4. We run the Oracle on SuSE Linux 10 SP2 on IA64.

The patch went smoothly, no errors. I also applied the PSU 2010.05 without any error.

After patching the database starts, but the listener not:

orabc6 51> lsnrctl start

LSNRCTL for Linux IA64: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on 13-JUL-2010 18:12:07

Starting /oracle/BC6/102_64/bin/tnslsnr: please wait...

TNS-12537: TNS:connection closed

TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

TNS-00507: Connection closed

Linux IA64 Error: 29: Illegal seek

The listener.log is as follows:

System parameter file is /oracle/BC6/102_64/network/admin/listener.ora

Trace information written to /oracle/BC6/102_64/network/trace/listener.trc

Listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=ipc)(KEY=BC6)))

Listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=10.3.5.55)(PORT=1527)))

No process with pid 22359...

I tried to "relink all", it ended without error, but did not solve the issue.

I also try to include the following entry into the hosts file, but this did not helped me, either.

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

(proposed at " )

Do you have an idea why this happen?

Thanks in advance.

Gábor

To start the listener in an AIX environment you should be logged on as orasid (orasbx).

Hi,

>> TNS-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

This error can be caused by network or authorization problems. I suggest you check whether tnsnames.ora entries are correct.

Read the notes below for the further informations;

Note 723641 - Composite SAP Note: ORA-12545

Note 384839 - ora-12540, tns-12560, tns-12500, tns-12546

hii guy,

I have the same problem like you?

Check if there is already some process listening on port 1527 with netstat -an |grep 1527

And increase the trace level of the listener and start it again. Post the logfile of this trace.

Kind regards,

Mark

I believe your lsnrctl command is wrong. Try this: lsnrctl start lsnr_<SID> (in which case <SID> is your DB SID - BC6 for example). If this works check via tnsping <SID> that your listener is reachable.
